Square Chronicles Home :: Final Fantasy

The start of the whole series, Final Fantasy has a basic storyline which for
the time it came out didn't really exist. It follows a group of unknown characters
called Light Warriors which you the player have to decide what
classes they are. They don't have any names like later Final Fantasy games and
allow you to choose four names with four letters each (John, Amba, Lucy etc).
This group find themselves unable to cross the river due to the bridge being
broken and so brings their first adventure, to get the bridge fixed. The warriors
end up finding out that they are apart of a prophecy that was fortold that a
group of light warriors would show up holding a elemental orb each (fire, earth, water
and air) Their task? To defeat each elemental boss and restore the light to
their orbs hense saving the world (or so they thought..)
This story may seem so simple but back when this game was made (1987) the other
games were ether about saving princesses or dragons (the main dragon one in
the market is DragonQuest, sound familar?) This game also saved SquareSoft from
becoming bankrupt. After a series of failed games they were going to give one
more try to make a sucessful game. Enter Hironobu Sakaguchi a game developer
who was going to retire soon and thought of a game such as this so square went
with it and released it. Next thing they know they are out of bankruptcy and
started making a sequel that wasn't a direct sequel.
The game has been on NES, PS, PSP, DS and many more. Each newer remake has
changed something about the game itself so its good to play as many of them
as you can.
